Back To The Asylum (Again): WB Says Second 'Batman: Arkham Asylum' Sequel Due In 2013

According to Time Warner CFO John K. Martin, the next entry in the "Arkham Asylum" franchise is due sometime this year. VG24/7 picked up on this detail from Warner Brothers' earnings call from last week, where Martin touted the sequel as one of the ways Warner Brothers (via WB Interactive) would be lining the coffers in 2013.

The big question is, would this be the previously-announced Silver Age sequel?

Martin's quote in full on the sequel:

And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise. So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013. And with a little luck, the year should be as good or maybe even a little bit better than 2012.

The Silver Age game would take place sometime around the first meeting between Batman and the Joker in the brighter, more lighthearted era of the character's fictional history where cartoonishly elaborate death traps were the name of the game and Ace the Bathound could roll with the Caped Crusader (and it wouldn't seem weird). The hope that it would be in the style of/a successor to the short-lived "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" is probably misplaced since WB is pinning the "Arkham Asylum" name on it, and it's unlikely that it'll be super kid-friendly since the "LEGO Batman" games already have that space carved out.
